Ruwi-ungai (To Country)
This artwork captures the importance of the younger generations embracing their connection to country. Inspired by my son, nieces, and nephews, the painting symbolizes the importance of passing on knowledge about the land.
In the background, hues of black and brown are used to convey the divide between mob and country that was imposed upon us. Brown represents the essence of the land, while black signifies the separation. The piece beautifully portrays the bridging of this gap as the porlarr(children) engage in learning about their Ruwi(Country).
The bright colors used throughout the painting represent the vitality and energy of the porlarr as they continue to explore and connect with their cultural heritage.
